Welcome to the beat, I'm Mari Melba. Republican voters here are turning to what is just the second primary of their ongoing race for the nomination.

Governor Haley stepping into the spotlight today, vowing to continue her campaign no matter what happens in her home state of South

Carolina this Saturday.

South Carolina will vote on Saturday, but on Sunday I'll still be running for president. I'm not going anywhere.

I'm going anywhere.

I'm campaigning every day until the last person votes.

Until the last person votes.

What Haley is doing here is very politically deliberate.

She's setting expectations because she and everyone knows that she, if you believe these polls,

currently trails Trump in that state.

She's using the speech as a pre-buddled to any calls that could come for her to leave the race because people say,

oh well, you've lost two states in a row or you lost your home state.

She also used today's speech to rebuke Trump and the Republicans whom she views as hypocritically enabling him

when they know better.

Of course many of the same politicians who now publicly embrace Trump privately

dread him. They know what a disaster he's been and will continue to be for

our party. I feel no need to kiss the ring. I have no fear of

Trump's retribution.

Nicky Haley there calling out the leaders of her party and it may sound like some typical rhetoric and it looks

like a typical event. You got the flags in the background, you have the calm demeanor of someone saying,

hey, I don't kiss the ring, I'm independent, these other people are the bad ones and if you were just watching this at a distance

You might not know who's right you might say well sounds like another intramural squabble that they need to work out
