Two missiles hitting and killing two people in the NATO country of Poland, which sets off tensions in that Ukraine war in the region and Putin's relationship with the West. We have the latest on that coming up shortly in the hour tonight. Our top story is the shifting power in Washington and the GOP. Remember, it was just
0:21.9	exactly one week ago now, and the counting was just beginning on election night. Most polls were just
0:27.4	closing, and many were still expecting a red wave, which never came. Tonight, we know Democrats
0:33.3	won the Senate, the House may edge Republican. There are calls in a few final races still coming in.
0:39.7	The Senate setback is a big one for now 80-year-old Mitch McConnell. He sets the GOP Senate strategy.
0:47.5	It's famously obstructionist approach to both Obama and then Biden, which apparently did not
0:53.2	prove very popular in these key races last week.
0:57.0	And while McConnell did publicly question the quality of some of the more extreme MAGA candidates,
1:02.4	he knows the buck stops with the leader, especially a longtime leader like himself.
1:06.2	And that's why tonight's news is striking.
1:09.0	It's an official challenge within the Republican Party within the
1:12.2	Senate caucus to McConnell's leadership. McConnell has this official challenge now as the top Republican
1:18.1	in the Senate from a fellow senator, Florida Republican Rick Scott. So he is making big waves. This is
1:24.2	the big story as the Senate is now set, unlike the House, and he will run
1:28.9	against McConnell for leader. Now, as everyone knows from the wire, when you come at the
1:34.6	king, you best not miss, because McConnell will surely punish and ice out any Republicans
1:42.1	to oppose him if he does beat back the challenge.
1:45.1	He's held power as leader for 15 years, precisely by knowing how to use power.
1:51.7	So it is notable that the announcement to take him on looks coordinated among some senators
1:56.9	in public with prominent conservative senators going after McConnell.
2:03.1	If anybody wants to say something smarter at a cocktail party or dinner party, say this.
2:10.2	I think the next speaker of the House may not be a member of the House.
