0:45.0	I left in 2015 so long before any of this was happening, but I kept up with the news
0:51.0	when in 2019 Buzzfeed employees were fighting to and then able to unionize.
0:57.0	This was after Buzzfeed unceremoniously laid off 15% of their workforce and then tried to
1:03.0	weasel out of paying them for paid time off in their severance packages.
1:07.0	A January 2019 fast company article called Buzzfeed's layoffs and the false promise
1:12.0	of unions aren't for us. Detailed the layoff of hundreds of employees,
1:17.0	which then spurred 400 others to petition the company to include paid time off in the
1:22.0	severance packages. Very reasonable.
1:25.0	That is money these laid off employees earned.
1:28.0	By this point, the company already had a history of union busting.
