Two and a half years ago, Google got into the game.

The gaming industry, that is. The Tech Giant introduced Stadia, a cloud gaming service that lets

users choose from a library of video games and play them on devices they already own. No clunky consoles

needed. But at the end of September, Google announced that

starting in January of 2023, Stadia would officially be benched. In a statement, Google gave a

rather typical reason for sunsetsing Stadia. The platform, quote, hasn't gained the traction with

users that we expected, end quote. As TechCrunch pointed out, this was the first time Google had gone beyond little hints that the platform was struggling.

Back in February of 2021, it reversed course and shut down its internal Stadia Gaming Studio,

which was supposed to develop original games for the platform.
