This episode came out of a conversation over dinner that we had with the detectives about

the fight, flight, or freeze reaction people experience when they find themselves in high

stress situations.

And it's where we learned about the term the goofy loop.

The episode starts with a story that I've heard Zibby tell several times about the night

she was accosted.

It goes on to reveal how no one is immune to the dangers of the goofy loop, not even trained

law enforcement personnel.

I moved to Los Angeles many years ago now.

I was about a week in, and at that time I didn't have my own place to stay, so I was staying

at a friends of my brothers.

In a relatively nice area, it was all nice homes or those big, giant duplexes.

And I had been visiting a friend, so it was late at night when I returned home.
