In this edition of Talk of Champions: Short Sessions, national college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman joins Zach Berry of the OMSpirit.com/On3 to talk all things Ole Miss basketball. The Rebels exhibition with Tusculum Monday night before opening their season November 6 against Alabama State. 

What can Rebel fans expect from Beard and Co. in Year 1? Goodman believes, as far as national competitiveness, Ole Miss needs each of transfers Moussa Cisse and Brandon Murray to get their NCAA waivers approved for one final season of eligibility.

“I think it’s about 20 percent so far of those that try to get a second undergrad waiver after transferring getting it,” Goodman said. “I think that’s going to determine whether Ole Miss is going to be a real factor nationally or not. If Beard gets both those dudes eligible? Watch out. 

“There aren’t many better in the country than Chris Beard as a ball coach in terms of everything he does. You get Texas Tech to the national title game, that’s one of the greatest accomplishments in the last 20 years in college basketball.”
