Summary

Back in the bunker, the three amigos meet with Julie Roys. Julie is the embodied combination of Sherlock Holmes and Lois Lane. She’s a longtime investigative reporter committed to uncovering the truth, and—much like Carl, Todd, and Aimee—interested in “mortifying the spin” concerning issues in the contemporary church.Julie has achieved some notoriety for her investigative work and her latest coverage on the alleged spiritual abuse, intimidation, misappropriation of funds, etc. surrounding Harvest Bible Chapel and Pastor James MacDonald. Unfortunately, this isn’t a unique case. The fabulous four discuss the devastating effects on the Church when disqualified men remain in leadership without being confronted, and the shame it brings to the name of Christ. My name is Todd Pruitt, and I'm joined as always by Amy Bird and Carl Truman.

0:50.1

And we're so glad that you're taking time to join us today.

0:53.6

We have what I think is a very interesting and certainly a timely discussion.

1:05.9

And we'll get to that in just a minute.

1:07.8

But our special guest today is Julie Roy's. Julie is a blogger. She has been a

1:15.2

radio host. She's a journalist. And for a number of years was a radio host for Moody Radio. And she may

1:26.4

regale us later with some stories from those days. But Julie is,

1:32.3

I think, a very good journalist and working a lot to address issues that are going on in

1:40.2

the contemporary church today. She is not at all what is sometimes described as a

1:46.3

grievance blogger, the kinds of blogs that trade in innuendo and gossip. Rather, Julie does

1:52.7

legitimate journalistic work, some of it investigative, as we've been seeing especially

1:58.7

over the last year or so.

2:02.4

And so first of all, Julie, thank you so much for being with us today.

2:07.1

Hey, it's great to be with you.

2:08.9

And good, good.

2:10.6

Well, we're glad that you've taken the time for us.

2:12.6

Let me just also mention while we're at it that you can find Julie's writing at Julieroys.com.
