Summary

President Biden’s final week in the Oval Office coincided with an historic ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Both he and President-Elect Donald Trump were quick to claim credit for the deal, with Biden beginning his farewell address by highlighting his administration’s part in the negotiations.

0:11.8	and it's clearly on his mind what his legacy is going to be, how he will be remembered.
0:15.6	He's been giving a few speeches where he's laying out what he thinks his achievements in office would be.

0:32.5	to America, his farewell speech from the Oval Office started talking about that. Before I began,

0:46.9	After eight months of non-stop negotiation, my administration, by my administration,
0:51.4	a ceasefire and a hostage deal has been reached by Israel and Hamas,
0:56.6	the elements of which I laid out in great detail in May this year.
1:04.4	This plan was developed and negotiated by my team and will be largely implemented by the incoming administration. That's why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed
1:09.9	because that's how it should be,
1:12.8	working together as Americans.
1:14.9	Joe Biden's always been really interested and involved in foreign policy, much more so than a lot of
1:19.4	other previous presidents. And so, you know, he really wants to get the credit for what he
1:25.2	thinks are other global achievements as well.
1:27.6	And overseas, we strengthen NATO.
1:29.9	Ukraine is still free.
1:32.3	And we've pulled ahead of our competition with China.
