Summary

Like all adventures, after five wonderful years, Stories of Scotland is coming to an end. Join Annie and Jenny in this last episode as they revisit where it all started, the humble bothy, and tell some final stories of Scotland.

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to you, our listeners. Thank you for supporting us as we’ve made this show, and tuning in to each episode, no matter how weird the subject, we couldn’t have done it without you. We’ve learnt so much, laughed even more, and truly lived the Stories of Scotland, it’s been an incredible journey. We’re forever grateful to our family and friends, who have given us endless encouragement, support and advice (mainly on how to pronounce things) throughout the years.

With all ends come new beginnings, so stay subscribed to this feed to hear about our future projects and endeavours.

For the final time, slàinte mhath.

Unfortunately, however, the world of independent podcasting is a tough one,

1:13.8

However, we thought it would be lovely to return to where it all began.

1:19.4

That is the humble Bothy.

1:21.9

Some of you will remember that in our very first episode, we explored Bothy culture,

1:27.7

where, by the smouldering peat fire, we did a wee jig into Scotland's storytelling culture.

1:34.7

For those of you who, like me, don't remember a thing pre-2020,

boffies are wee buildings scattered throughout the highlands.

1:43.0

They are often far from roads, nestled deep in glens, or sit happily by the shores of remote lochs.

Historically, many of these buildings housed groups of men who are working on the land.

1:55.0

They may have been seasonal farmhands or guillies and estate workers.

Over the years, however, as land management and labour

requirements changed, these buildings were left abandoned and slowly fell into ruin. But, just as the
