Summary

#243. The entertainment couldn't last. United completed two bore-draws inside a week. Plus ça change. First, against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, with the Reds' scoreless draw leaving United's ongoing participation in the competition hanging in the balance. Then, at the weekend, where Louis van Gaal's team drew at Leiester City in another thoroughly uninspiring performance. So boring has the Dutchman's team become that Ed & Paul are bored talking about the boredom. It's that boring. But for the good of the listeners they plough on, reviewing two uneventful games, discussing Van Gaal's future, and pondering a potential summer move for Pep Guardiola. Also on the show this week: your questions answered and a look ahead to United's weekend draw against West Ham at Old Trafford. No Question About That is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and all good podcast apps. The So, People, how you doing? Yeah, I'm good, thank you. I've watched all the football this week, but apart from that I've had a lovely week thank you

0:34.4

Very good. Yeah You know I'm running out of words

0:39.4

Anyone who reads rant knows that I like to throw in the random long word just for the sake of it.

0:44.7

I had to reach into the thesaurus this weekend to try and work out how to describe boredom,

0:49.8

soporific, dull, anemic, and other words of that nature.

0:55.0

Yeah, it's not just been boring, it's also been bad, which I think is a little bit different to the kind of boring it was.

1:05.6

Yeah, actually, watching the game this weekend, actually made me angry.

1:09.6

And I don't often get angry watching football these days and not angry because United were

1:14.7

doing something really dumb or were terrible in defense or anything like that but

1:19.0

the anger at the utter utter pointlessness of most of the United's play.

1:24.2

478 passes United completed, of which only 160 something

1:29.5

were in the final third.

1:30.6

You know, and compare that to Leicester completing 169 of something like 200.

1:36.4

So most of the United's play is condensed into what Van Hal calls the 60, I think think the middle third of the pitch and really doing

1:46.2

very little sidewards sidewards sidewards and very very slow.

1:49.8

Yeah so let's start with PSV shall we we? Rooney back in the side and, you know, his attack

1:56.8

collapsed around him.

1:58.6

That's really unfair.

1:59.9

The first half, we were all right, actually,

2:01.5

in that game, made some pretty good chances.

2:04.1

Marcel had a couple of chances which he didn't take at the near post.

2:07.8

Lingard had a chance or two.
