0:00.0 | Welcome to the intersection of faith in the culture. This is the Wal-Beller show. Thanks so much for joining us. I'm Rick Green, America's Constitution coach and a former |
0:18.0 | Texas legislator hanging out here with David and Tim Barton. David's, of course, America's premier historian. If you've ever seen any video with David and if you've had the |
0:26.0 | privilege of hearing him live in an audience, you know, the man's got more information in that brain about the history of America and about the |
0:34.5 | founding fathers than any living human being. So it's always, always a privilege to get to work here with David. And then, of course, Tim Barton, National Speaker and Pastor and President of Wal-Bellers and essentially a clone of David. I |
0:45.8 | mean, let's be honest. Look, he's got the same brain. I mean, I feel like, you know, I'm really at a disadvantage here on the program with these guys. No, it is so cool to be able to just learn so much about |
0:54.5 | history and the Constitution and the Bible. I mean, these guys have that information in their heads. And they've educated so many Americans on this. I can't tell you how many members of Congress and state legislators and people in public office. I've met that said I ran for office because of Wal-Bellers because of something I learned from David or Tim Barton because of something that was was, you know, encouraged or enlightened me or really woke me up about the history of our country and the role that Christians should play in the culture. It's just a great impact that Wal-Bellers has had literally rebuilding the walls. I mean, that's what this or |
1:24.5 | organization does. We're rebuilding the walls so that we may no longer be able to approach. We're bringing back the foundation. We're rebuilding those principles. That's what it's all about. And of course, those principles we talk about on Thursdays. Hope you caught yesterday's program for foundations of Freedom Thursday. And then today, of course, we're getting into some of that good news. |
1:40.5 | David Tim, time for some good news this week. In fact, I was just looking at a text somebody sent me yesterday saying, man, I love it. When y'all do good news Friday, it gives me a good encouragement. This was somebody I didn't even know listen to our program, guys. |
1:53.2 | So I think I think folks enjoy the encouragement. So David, get us started. Man, what's our first piece of good news today? |
1:58.4 | Well, this relates to a battle that's been going on now for a number of years. And we have another victory in that battle. |
2:04.3 | And it is the victory that deals with LGBTQI plus and their their practice of just absolutely demanding that everybody else affirm who they are and capitulate to their beliefs. |
2:17.3 | And so this latest one comes out of what's called title nine and title nine is a provision that was passed by Congress back in 1972 to make sure that there was women's sports. |
2:27.4 | And so women's sports. This is this is what's allowed, you know, the protection for women's basketball colleges, women's swimming teams and women's everything else by demonstration came out and redefined women to mean gender orientation identity, whatever you want to call it, you can decide what a woman is instead of a biological decision. |
2:45.0 | So with that, what you had was a whole bunch of LGBTQI plus individuals that sued colleges, Christian colleges, because Christian colleges, there is a provision that says you cannot force a a religious person to violate their religious beliefs on things like this. |
3:04.8 | And so there's a lot of Christian colleges and universities that have women's sports, but they don't include LGBTQI plus, transgender, identifying individuals within that. It's a biological. |
3:17.2 | And so there's a bunch of these individuals that follow suit against these Christian colleges and saying, hey, have letting them have an exception, not to affirm and not to accept and not to support what we do. That that's unconstitutional. And the courts came back and said, no, it's not. |
3:33.8 | Religion actually is a very important part of the constitution and not forcing someone to participate in your your behavior or your beliefs doesn't mean that that's discrimination. |
3:45.8 | And I think that's this is such a really big thing now because we've talked about this in previous programs, but Genesis 19 and judges 19 both show that from the very beginning, LGBTQI plus groups, they don't just want to coexist with everybody else. |
4:01.8 | They want everybody else to affirm them and to to support them and to come alongside them and participate with what they do. |
4:09.1 | And it's, you know, for the course to say you don't have to do that. I mean, just think of the the logic of saying, we demand that all Democrats affirm all Republicans or that all progressives affirm all all conservatives or that all Texans affirm all Californians or whatever. |
4:25.4 | We would never do that in any other or that all atheist can affirm, you know, people of faith and Christians and that celebrate our faith when they think we, you know, are crazy for believe what we believe. |
4:36.1 | That's right. Or Muslims affirm Christians or Christians affirm. You know, we're going to let people do their thing, but we're not going to participate in it. We don't have to agree with it. |
