Turn with me to two openings this morning.

If you didn't bring a Bible with you, the ushers have extra Bibles.

We'd be glad to let you use one of ours.

Hold up your hand real high.

And let's go to Romans, Chapter 1.

Romans chapter 1, and then also we'll go to Luke 4.

Romans 1, Luke 4.

We began a few weeks back on a new series, and these have been our main text.

And we'll begin in verse 15 of Romans 1.

So as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel.

To you that are at Rome also, I am ready to proclaim the gospel.

Now, the word gospel means good message, good tidings, good news. It's the good message. Good. And verse 16, he says,

for I am not ashamed of the gospel. I am not ashamed of the good message, the good news of Christ, for it is,

the gospel is, the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes, not just to everybody

that hears it, but to everybody that believes it, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, for everybody.

The reason you're born again is because you heard the gospel,

and you believe the gospel, and you acted on your belief.

Well, why would you say I'm not ashamed of the gospel?

If you couldn't be ashamed or if you were never tempted to be ashamed, if there was never

any pressure to be shamed about the gospel, this would be irrelevant.

There'd be no need to say it or bring it up.

But it is relevant.
