2,000 years ago, Roman soldiers would pound three nails through the wrists and feet of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and raise him up on a cross.

It was the single greatest sin and evil that has ever been committed on this entire earth.

And paradoxically, at the very same time,

it is the single greatest act of love that has ever been made on this earth.

Which is why 2,000 years later, we could, with audacity, call this day good.

That we would call it good, despite the fact that it was the greatest sin ever committed,

knowing that it was either that sin or our sin that would be accountable to God.

That this great act of love, Christ in our place, that the wrath of

God was poured out upon the cross of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins for all who would

trust in him. And the sign above Jesus' head that Pilate had made said Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.

They made it mockingly, and yet it was a prophetic fulfillment that he was the long-waded

Messiah, that as there was written there in three different languages,

all who walked by could behold, there he is, the king of the Jews. And often we talked about how

Jesus was crucified because he was rebuking the religious leaders. He was forgiving people of their sins. And the Pharisees

knew from what he had said that he was claiming to be God. And we think for those reasons,

that's why they shouted, crucify him. And yet we know that it's not because of what Jesus said or did that had him on the cross,

but rather it's because what we have said and done that had Jesus upon the cross.

And so the reality is that every single person has sin. All eight billion

people living today have sin. The question is, do they have a Savior? Do you have a Savior?

Have you trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins?

And so this Good Friday, we're going to look at what held Jesus to the cross, but it was not three nails.

They nailed Jesus to the cross, but it was not the three nails that had crossed to the cross, but rather three things.
