Malanson, and this is another golden ticket talk. We meet with Jeff Colt, a professional trail

runner for on running based in Carbondale, Colorado. Jeff punched his ticket to Western

States with a third place finish at the Black Canyon

100K this past weekend. In addition to race analysis, we talk about his entry into the sport

while working in the hut system of New Hampshire's White Mountains, his multi-year path to a golden

ticket, which included near misses at the 2018 and 2019 Bandera 100Ks, his unorthodox training philosophy,

his thoughts on the East Coast trail scene, and much more. There have been some conversations

on the pod over the last couple of months that have inspired me to rethink some of my

most basic assumptions about the sport in various areas. And this was definitely

Second, I got to give myself props.

I don't typically do this on the podcast, but you were my dark horse pick in the preview

show before the race.

So I'm pretty stoked about that.

And then three, it was crazy to watch the end of the race because I was watching the live

coverage here in Sonsman calling the finish.

And the first two guys, Chuhart and Scott had come through.

Everybody was fully expecting Castalas to be the next man.

And then they see this guy coming through in an on running kit charging to the finish.

No one could ID you.
