So I want to tell you a story.

A lot of you have followed me for a long time.

I know that the first experience I had with the World Cup was in 82

when my friend, Dandy Dinge, Graham Runcie,

Ali Fraser and Barry Stewart.

We all combined two of them for two weeks,

me and Denged for four weeks down in Spain for World Cup 82.

It was a magnificent experience. and I'm not embarrassed to

admit that amongst the biblical experiences we had in 1982 people remember this, which is

nearly two and a half thousand years ago. We discovered El Corte Inglis for the first time. El

Gortingles is this giant store which at a supermarket at the bottom of it we'd never seen anything

like it in our lives so although that we were pretty much involved in meeting and moving in

with Danish women meeting up with Alex Ferguson and going on the lash with him yeah we did

getting involved in the cops being called to our accommodation,

gun play, three times involved with the cops drawing guns on us,

seeing Scotland play, swapping shirts

with the Brazilian women after the defeat and so.

I could go on in the list.

It was a big month, it was a very big month.

We were so stunned by the quality of food and wine in Cortingles that we made a day trip of going back to see it again.

Yes, that is embarrassing, but it is also true. The smell of the haman, the sight and sounds of the greenery, the apples, the wine, the olives. It was astonishing.
