Of course, the murders of Black people at the hands of police are not new, but they have

newly emerged onto the national consciousness over the past ten years because of social

Today, almost everyone has an internet-enabled camera in their pocket, allowing images

to hit the public within seconds, or in real time.

As much as they've raised a new national consciousness about police violence and the

murder of Black people, there's always a cost.

The viral sharing of these videos has created a sort of pain porn, as activist Mickey
