Morning, everybody, welcome along to your free podcast for today. It's Friday, it's the 5th of June, and we had a cracking program this morning.

You know, to be honest with you, I think actually today might go down as being the program where we got more information in and out than we've ever done before.

We jogged a few memories of some

bars and clubs in London when it really was a cellar full of noise around Soho and everywhere

else and you all had your memories. It's nice when you can say something and it's nice

when you get an instant reaction from people and we do on LBC get instant reactions. You're

very quick at responding to things. So you mention a club

and somebody say, I know that. I know what he's talking about. I was talking about the Phoenix at the

back of John Lewis. He used to go there on lots and lots of Saturdays, lots and lots of different

places. Because London, I think, was, you know, is where, you know, that's where you wanted to be. I mean, I came up from, from Berkshire. And when you, when you go around, we didn't have any money. We seemed to manage to do things on absolute peanuts. And we didn't have any, there was no sort of claiming the dole or anything like that or any sort of social benefits. We rented a flat. It was 27 quid a week. I can remember it, you know, like it was yesterday. nine pounds each we had to find, nine pounds each.

And I had a job working at disco which paid 20 quid a gig, 20 pounds.

People go out for thousands now, 20 pounds it paid.

But we managed to get round and we seemed to exist and we seemed to buy clothes and we seem...

I can't remember eating great food.

I can't remember eating great food, but I do remember

going to a place that it was the end of Ken High Street and it used to go there, but they didn't have

a drinks license, but they served you booze. And how did they serve booze? They served it in teapots.

So you'd say, and we'll have four, four vodkas and, uh, and coke. And the coke would come

in a normal sort of bottle, but the vodka used to come in a teapot so that anybody looking in the

window would not see that there was out. I mean, everybody knew about it. It was right on the corner.

It was like a burger place. And so I, I got my formative years drinking alcohol in London out of a teapot. I mean, it was ridiculous,
