My grandfather was a great country cook, and his pride in joy was his cast iron skillet.

He used it to cook everything, and I loved watching him season it up and cook with it,

clean it, and then oil it up for the next meal.

For decades of use, the carbon buildup became shiny black and hard as diamonds.

It was all I wanted of his when he died.

But I recently found another old cast iron skillet in his cabin, but this one was rusted

and dirty.

It took all day for me to scour out the rust, scrub it inside and out, season it, heat

it up, season it again, heat it again, oil it up, and heat it again.

But when I was done, it was gorgeous, shiny, clean, hard as diamonds, and fully restored.

Well have you ever felt like that rusty, dirty, rotten old frying pan in need of cleaning

and repair?

Well this meditation from 2 Chronicles chapter 7 is a reflection on restoration.

You may feel isolated and forgotten by God, but remember, there is hope in the promise

of forgiveness in God's divine restoration.

So whether at the first light of a new day or the last light of evening, begin your meditation

by surrendering the next 15 minutes to explore the restoring power of Father, Son, and
