Today's guided prayer, we're going to see a new side of God.

We're going to look at a name that God gave himself and use that name as a way to see who God is.

Wherever you are right now, will you just take your hands and open them up in a way of receiving?

Just say, Jesus, I want to see you the way that you revealed yourself.

In Matthew chapter 1, verse 23, the angel was prophesying about the birth of Jesus.

And that angel said, look, the virgin will conceive a child.

She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel, which means God is with us.

You know, in ancient times, names were given to signify a character or personality trait.

And God being God, I find it fascinating that he got to name himself.

And by naming himself, he lets us know how he wants us to see him.

And in this name, Emmanuel, it's not just a Christmas name.

It's not just a hymn that we sing around the holidays.

It is a way for you and I to see that God is Emmanuel, God with us. God wants you to see.

He wants you to know that he is with you today. Take a moment to think about your upcoming plans

and activities, work, driving kids around,

dinners with friends, tasks in the home, running errands.

Think about all of those things that you have planned.

Picture yourself participating in them, some of the frustrations of traffic or the annoyance of

people talking or maybe some social anxieties and now i want you to imagine literal physical jesus

his beautiful middle eastern brown eyes and brown hair.

His loving, kind, compassionate demeanor but full of power.
