1 Corinthians chapter 16 is where we are and we're going to close out the book of first

Corinthians today by looking at the last of four questions that the church at corinth

wrote to paul to ask for some clarification if you've been here for the past few weeks you

know the four questions but here here they are. They had questions

about relationships. Paul answers that in Chapter 7, specifically on singleness, marriage, and

divorce. They also had questions about what they could or couldn't do in the area of liberty

and conscience. So Paul addresses that in Chapter 8. Then they had questions also about spiritual gifts.

Paul begins the answer in chapter 12.

He takes three chapters, 12, 13, and 14 to talk about spiritual gifts.

That was our topic last Sunday.

And then finally, this is the last topic.

They had questions about the topic of money and giving that he addresses

here in chapter 16. How much and how often should we give? So that's what we're going to be

looking at today. Each time that Paul addressed one of these topics in response to the question

that they had, he begins with the words now concerning blank.

And that's the way he begins chapter 16.

If you have your Bibles open, starting at verse 1, down through verse 4, Paul writes,

now concerning the collection for the saints, okay, or the offerings that they are to receive.

As he says, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia,

so you must do also. And here it is. On the first day of the week, let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. And when I come,

whomever you approve by your letters, I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem. But if it is fitting that I go also, they will go with me. Let's pause there

and pray together. Father God, we thank you for your word today, and here we are approaching the celebration
