Good morning everyone and welcome back to another mornings with the masters where we devote ourselves to the Lord

daily with you. Good morning guys. Good morning indeed. We're picking up with day 14 of our 21 days of

discipleship devotional and the Bible app. There's a link to that in the description if you guys want to

follow along with us and it's all oh actually this one the scripture is all up in it some

torches is going to take it from here. Yes y'all let's do it today's devotional is titled

from disobedience to dysfunction and it says this as Jesus continues to prepare his disciples for

the chain reaction of events that is about to be said in motion he makes something really clear.

Those who love Jesus listen to Jesus and John 14 15 he says if you love me keep my commands

and again in verse 23 anyone who loves me will obey my teaching we can bang on the fact that what

is repeated is important so it's clear that Jesus really wanted us to get this but why what does

love have to do with obedience one of our switch pastors recently said we've become so afraid of

religion that we've settled for a dysfunctional relationship oh a relationship where you never

talk to spend time with or serve the other person is dysfunctional it's also dysfunctional if

the only time you ever talk to them is when you want something a loving relationship looks like

trusting the other person and wanting the best for them if we have a loving relationship with

Jesus one that is healthy and functional we will talk to him spend time with him and serve him

not just when we want something but often that's what good relationships look like and the

beautiful thing is that when we have this kind of relationship with Jesus our trust in him grows

and our perspective shifts we start to see our lives and the lives of others to the lens of

eternity and as we see his love for us more and more clearly obedience will start to come naturally

that's what Jesus is driving home in this chapter he's saying hey when you understand how much

my dad and I love you and how everything I've been teaching you is because I want what's best for
