I want to read two passages from Matthew chapter 19 that are pretty close to each other and

pretty closely related. Matthew 19 verses 4 through 6. Jesus answered,

have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female

and said therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife

and the two shall become one flesh so they are no longer two but one flesh.

What therefore God has joined together let not man separate. Then Matthew chapter 19 verses 11

and 12. But Jesus said to them, not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it

is given. For there are unix who have been so from birth and there are unix who have been made

unix by men and there are unix who have made themselves unix for the sake of the kingdom of heaven,

that the one who is able to receive this receive it. So the reason I read both of these passages

is because the first talks about marriage and God's good design for marriage and then need to

protect marriage. This one flesh union between a man and a woman that God joins together

and the beauty of marriage for the display of the gospel and the context here is Jesus teaching

on divorce and the need to protect marriage and nurture marriage. So that's verses 4 through 6

and then you get to verses 11 and 12 and Jesus talks about singleness and specifically singleness

for the sake of the kingdom of heaven and the beauty of singleness for the sake of the kingdom.

And so we have this picture that we see all throughout scripture which we had more time to dive

into this that there is a beauty and marriage for the display of the gospel of the kingdom and

there's a beauty and singleness for the display of the gospel of the kingdom. And everybody who's

listened to this right now is in one of those pictures either you are married or you are single

and I want to lead us to pray that whether we are married or single that God would show the beauty
