When Maria Torres' husband left the family, her six sons wondered how to navigate life without a dad.

She acknowledged the situation was tough for her sons.

Spanish women, with all these many kids, the dads are you all going to be criminals.

But we're going to show the whole world that Jesus will not allow this in our family.

Instead of handling one tough thing at a time, it just feels like they all seem to hit it once.

Yeah, both of us have been through some of those stormy

seasons. It can be hard sometimes to even know how to pray. Sometimes all you can say is help, Lord.

Yeah. And you know, our guest today has gone through some of those stormy seasons, but you wouldn't

know it. She is full of joy living out Philippians 4, which describes the peace the

Lord gives. It's peace beyond understanding. I can't wait to hear the story. My name is Maria Toro,

and I'm from Pennsylvania. Maria was born in Colombia. When my parents brought me to America,

I was 10 years old in Staten Island.

I got married, I went to school, and I went to university in the city in Manhattan.

Maria remembers when she started listening to revive our hearts on the radio.

Nancy, remember when the program was a little shorter? I sure do. It started as a 15-minute program in the early days.

That is when Maria started listening to Revive Our Hearts.

I started listening to Nancy 15 minutes on the radio. I used to go on a florist.

And so the first thing that I would come in the morning was to put my radio, my Christian radio on,

and she would come in at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

Maria had a daughter and six sons.
