Well, recently, I had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Whitmer about his book, and I began by asking

him what motivated him to write it.

Being a pastor for so many years, I walked with people through all kinds of challenges and tragedies.

And comfort to me has always been the sovereignty of God, and I've seen that as a comfort to them too.

But I wanted to write a book that doesn't deal so much with the esoteric nature of the theological principle,

but rather how it matters in daily life.

What difference does God's sovereignty make when I'm walking through the valley of the shadow of death?

So I'm hoping that that's how it will bless people.
