In 2020 we had the election on I think the election was called on November 7th

so they had about two and a half months with which to respond in violence.

This time we have primaries, we have conventions, we have the vote itself,

we have all those other dates like January 6th.

Perhaps even more seriously though, we have court dates.

And the court dates are being used to fuel

this narrative of victimhood and martyrdom that extremists thrive off.

And so I think we're in a worse situation than we were in 2020 and 2021.

Unfortunately, Americans are not strangers to far right terrorism.

capital. These horrific incidents are only the latest in a decades long process in which harmful conspiracy theories, radical ideologies, and hostility toward government come together to form a grave and increasing threat to democracy. In their book, God, Guns, and

Sedition, Far Right Terrorism in America. Bruce Hoffman and Jacob Ware tell the story of the

rise of far right terrorism and explain how to counter it.

I sat down with Hoffman and Ware to unpack their book.
