I have a returning guest, a very special guest. His name is Dr. Phil Fernandez,

and we spoke back on July 22nd about a book he wrote titled The Atheist Delusion,

a Christian response to Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.

And I was looking over some of his other books and came across this one that he wrote back in 2003.

The title of the book is God, Government, and The Road to Tyranny.

And a very prescient book, very timely, a lot of very good information in the book, so I highly recommend it.

He also wrote it with some other authors.

Last names were Purcell, Rineer, and Weisinger. And I suggest you go back and listen to the earlier

discussion that we had back on July 27th. You can get some more background from Dr. Phil Fernandez.

He's written many other books, but we're going to talk about these themes

that I think are very important to talk about now. So Dr. Phil Fernandez, are you there?

Yes, I am. William. How are you doing? I'm doing well. Thanks for agreeing to the interview.

Can you talk about kind of your background and what led you to write this book god government and the road to

tyranny well i i got saved in the 1981 i was raised in a catholic home but never really believed

and i was in the marine corps when one situation led to another and i came to christ and so then in 1981 at the age of 21, I started to rethink everything, you know, I had been taught.

And by doing that, I started finding out that, you know, and even the Marine Corps taught me

that communism and socialism are bad. They're not good for people.

It leads to the genocide, to the slaughter of multitudes. And so as I grew in my Christian walk and I started studying Christian apologetics, I also saw that there was a need to engage in political moral issues of our day and interpret them from the biblical worldview

and argue that the biblical position would be the best that would promote freedom.

And so that's how I got started on this particular issue.
