Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to the Messy Masterpiece Podcast, which had

up on day two of our five days of Advent app or devotional. In the Bible app, there's

a link to that description of this podcast. If you haven't listened to day one, definitely

go check that one out. So again, I'm going to read the scripture and then Tory is going

to read the devotional. Let's do it. The scripture is 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 27

and 28. And it says this, instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order

to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame

those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world. Things counted as nothing

at all and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result,

no one can ever boast in the presence of God. I love that verse. The devotional says hope

when it seems scary. Have you ever been given a big task or responsibility? Did it feel

so huge that you didn't know how you would accomplish it? Jesus' mom Mary knew this

feeling well. An angel came to her and let her know she was pregnant. This baby was chosen

from God to save the world. She had no idea what to do with that news, but she knew it

was from God. Mary could have asked so many questions. Why me? Couldn't you have chosen

another girl maybe who's older? How will I be a good mom? But instead of asking why?

Mary thanks the Lord with a beautiful song. My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices

in God my Savior. For he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on,

all generations will call me blessed. For the mighty one has done great things for me. Holy

is his name. In the middle of getting the biggest news of her life, Mary rejoices and has

hoped that God is in control. She was looking forward to the future with hope because she knew
