We're going to start where we should always start in theology.

Doctrine or theology, the word theology means literally the study of God.

So we're talking about who God is and his plan for this world that he made, which is a way of

saying theology is about everything. But we're going to start with the doctrine of God.

And that's where Machen starts us. In fact, in chapter two of this book, after the introduction,

we've got doctrine and then we've got God and man. He puts them together.

These questions really do go hand in hand. The answer to the question, who is God,

has everything to do with understanding who we are. And once we understand who we are,
