Hey, everybody. This short segment is called a go-to. It refers back to this crazy thing we used to do at the end of our sorority meetings in college. If you can believe that, it was called for the good of the order. And it was a way to share something that had emerged over the course of the week,

which really was a bit of learning or thinking or feeling that was to everyone's benefit to share.

And so that's all we'll do here.

Every Friday we release a go-to, and we encourage you to share it with friends around the country.

We know that people use it as a way to stay in touch with their best friends across the country and, of course, far-flung family members, wherever they might be.

This is Kelly Corrigan Wonders in our weekly

segment called GoTo. This week's go-to is a callback to a conversation I had with my cousin

Kevin Corrigan, who is the head coach of the men's lacrosse team at Notre Dame. And the reason we're putting it up

is because his team is playing for the national championships this weekend in Charlottesville.

So I wanted to share two pieces of the interview we did together. Off the bat, I asked him to look

back on his very first team and give me his take

on what he might have done wrong, which I thought was really an invaluable reflection. It

reminded me of sometimes choices I made as a parent. Then, towards the end, when I asked him

this last question, I thought his answer was so spot on.

And it reminded me of something Yannick Center, the tennis player, just said, about focusing on wins and losses versus committing to learn the game you're playing, to understand more deeply the terrain and

the dynamics of the sport, literally or metaphorically, that you have chosen. So here is the great

Kevin Corrigan, head coach of Notre Dame, playing for the national championships this weekend.

I want to look back and compare season one to last season, let's say,

and just sort of track some changes.
