Everybody, this short of course Hey, everybody. This short segment is called a go-to. It refers back to this crazy thing we used to do at the end of our sorority meetings in college. If you can believe that, it was called for the good of the order. And it was a way to share something that had emerged over the course of the week,

which really was a bit of learning or thinking or feeling that was to everyone's benefit to share.

And so that's all we'll do here.

Every Friday, we release a go-to, and we encourage you to share it with friends around the country.

This week's go-to is in celebration of the little scrap of paper you didn't throw away as the origin story for something great.

So I am a person who's basically made my whole career off of the journals I started writing in seventh grade

and the long, insane letters about the Sioux Ute dance at Camp Taqua that I used to send home to my parents over the

summers when I used to go to sleepaway camp. And between those journals and those letters,

I really had enough detail to make many stories come to life on the page. And I know that this

making stuff is so interesting to all of us

who are a part of this podcast, including you guys, the listeners, because over the years,

we've done these Zoom events, we call them workshops, where people share what they've been

working on and how they're evolving in their attentions and their creative energies

and what they hope to get out of their latest project. And on those workshops, I often say,

like, save everything. Then fast forward, as you might know, I cleaned out my mother's house. She died

about a year ago, almost exactly, actually.
