Hi everybody.

This short segment is what we call for the good of the order.

It's something we used to do at the end of my sorority meetings, if you can believe that,

where someone would share something that they came across in the course of the week, a poem, a song lyric, a short story, that they found enormously helpful as they went about daily life.

And I wanted to pick up the thread because I am so often wowed by something I see in the world

that I want to bring back and hand off to you.

So every Friday we produce a short segment called for the good of the order.

Think of it like an audio greeting card, a thing to share with the people that you love around the country

who you don't get to see or talk to enough. A thing to discuss with the people you do see and talk to

on a more regular basis.

This is Kelly Corrigan Wonders for the good of the order. Oh, This week's go-to is an audio capture from a live event that I just did. It's called

the Nantucket Project. I've been involved with them many, many times and I was asked to open the weekend with some thoughts about how we could possibly learn to get along better in our country. So this is what I offered up.

It's kind of a funny thing to be given the assignment to frame the weekend, which is a weekend

when we're going to try to think bigger, while still living inside the flawed bias machinery that is my head.

Like this week, while I was researching

the idea of intellectual humility, I actually said out loud to no one, God I hate

Matt Gets. Why do I hate him? There's an exercise. So let's do it for a minute each in the privacy of our own minds

who do you think you hate? And importantly does your hatred put 100% of their ideas and opinions in your own personal,

no chance, know how, bucket?

For that matter, does your enjoyment of someone, your easy banter about

gardening or poker make everything they suggest seem more right? I think we know

what they said about babies and bath water. So let's say
