It's not all great with the Lions right now. We can't possibly say that. They've lost three of their last five games. They're a six and four team. They got problems to deal with. Not that they won't deal with them, but let's just start addressing some of those. So they want to win the division. They want that home playoff game. They want the NFC North title. They've already lost to the Packers. It was week one. It was a very strange game, which they looked really bad. They've already lost to the Packers. That's not great. They will see the Packers again. Then there's the Bears problem. Is it a problem? The Bears are in first place in the division. They're seven and three. They've won a bunch of games in a row. Lest we forget, the Detroit Lions put 52 points on the Ben Johnson Bears in a game that felt very important, very personal.

So I don't think the Lions, fans, players, or staff are terribly worried about the bears who are a threat.

The other thing is the Eagles absolutely backhanded them right off the field. That was an absolutely humbling destruction of a game. I know their tight end wasn't out there. I know that Jared Goff would not have suddenly morphed into some sort of superstar if he was. The problem with the Lions, as always, and this is what they call a champagne problem now, is that if they don't win the Super Bowl this year, it's a disappointment. There's about eight teams in the league that can say that. They're one of them. Congratulations. So guys, they got to beat Philly, most likely. And the way things are going, they're going to have to go back to that same field. So they're going to have to have a massive 180 in how they performed on that field against that D-line. They scored nine points. Jared Goff's last 20 passes, he completed two of them. It was barely even football. So if you believe that they can go there in six, seven, eight weeks, whatever it is, and have that big of a turnaround, I am not necessarily with you. So NFC North problems don't really scare me that much. Packers aren't playing well. The Bears they hammered last time. But if you were a Lions fan who's like, I want to parade this year, then you got to watch this game tape and be like, what the hell are we going to do about that Eagle's front? Because they seem to be only getting better. It's not all great in Detroit right now because their expectations are great. and right now I'm not projecting them to meet them. Let's look right now at the NFC playoff

picture. What jumps out? I'll tell you a few things. Let's jump out so who's at the top.

All right. The Eagles playoff start right now, which they don't. They get a buy and they have

home field advantage throughout. The Rams, same record as the Eagles sitting there at 8 and 2. The damn Chicago Bears are all alone in first place in the NFC North, the team that the Lions thumped, but it feels like months ago. And then for the sake of this conversation, Detroit is now lurky. That means they're not in the playoffs. They're six and four.

If you believe Detroit will be in the playoffs, which I still do, we're looking at a scenario where it's very likely, guys, that they're going to go to Philadelphia, very likely in the playoffs that they get there. Who the hell knows? They may even go to Chicago. We don't know how this is going to think. We know the Eagles are going to be there. I still believe the lions are going to be there.

Let's talk about this, because this is a conversation people are having this morning, aside from the past interference at the end of the game, which I don't care about because the Lions' offense was so terrible I don't think they would have scored. When you see Jared Goff and you see all the incompletions and the total domination from the D-line, how does it make you feel,

forget Philadelphia a second, how does it make you feel about Detroit in these NFC playoffs?

They're going to be about, I don't know, seven, eight weeks from now.

It's just so surreal because we keep waiting for them to put the cape on and say, all right,

here they come.

They come running. Last year, all they would do is win close games. Every single week, it was a close game they'd win. This year, they don't win any close games. Just historically in the Mahomes era, five and five right now. He was six and four in 2019, won the Super Bowl. In 2020, when it was three and four to the title game, in 2023, he was eight and five, won the Super Bowl. But we have not seen five and five.

And bring up the standings again, guys, if you will, the AFC playoff picture. It's even

worse than five and five. And I'll tell you why. Because Kansas City has lost to all

three current wild card teams.

That being Buffalo, the Chargers, and the Jaguars.
