This is the most interesting season from Mahomes and the Chiefs in years, potentially even ever, because there's so much change.

0:37.3

The last time we saw Patrick Mahomes play a game, he got shellacked in the Super Bowl and said, I didn't play to my standard.

0:41.7

He threw an interception for the first time in almost 300 throws. Patrick Mahomes threw his first career playoff pick six. In 21 playoff games, he had never done that, and the

0:47.7

Chiefs were broken in that game. Now they show up, and Patrick Mahomes' number one wingman

0:53.3

is going to be 36 years old. His number one

0:56.2

wide receiver is facing a suspension. Arguably his best lineman is gone. And I think some of

1:02.7

the invincibility is gone. I think a little bit of the aura is gone. And we know that the three

1:08.9

Pete is gone. There's no three Pete. There's no Chief's Pete that's Pete that's all gone. What's not gone, though, is gone. And we know that the three Pete is gone. There's no three Pete. There's no Chiefs Pete. That's all gone. What's not gone, though, is that the dynasty. They are still in the middle of a dynasty, guys. Joe Montana didn't win three in a row. Terry Bradshaw didn't, Tom Brady, Troy Aikman. It's still the Chiefs. They lost the Super Bowl. They were still in the Super Bowl.

1:28.4

And here's the measure of the Chiefs right now.

1:30.3

All those things I said about this guy's gone and this guy's old and this guy this.

1:34.0

The Chiefs open Chargers Eagles.

1:37.1

Chargers Eagles.

1:38.4

It's not great.

1:39.5

Would anybody have the gall to say, I think the Chiefs are going to be 0 and 2 to start the season. Hell no. And that's playing against the Super Bowl champ and a continually ascending Chargers team coached by Jim Harbaugh. I would never say that about them, despite all that I still listed. They're still the chiefs. They are still in the middle of a dynasty. Just a lot has felt like it's changed outside of that since that Super Bowl. And it's the most interesting season I can remember from them in years. Listen, the West is tough. You're hearing all this great buzz from Pete Carroll's Raiders camp. And then the other two are kind of self-explanatory. It's really tough. But I get the buzz just watching that. I mean, you guys, Jim Harbaugh can be an unwieldy guy because he's eccentric. You guys did an amazing job with it. There was a comfort there. I got fired up talking about that running game. He said mush like six times. I feel like he's really settled in. And, you know, last year was just the welcome back to the NFL the year for Jim Harbaugh. Get everything settled. And, of course, ahead of schedule, he makes the playoffs.

2:36.1

I think this year is when it's really like, all right, now I got my guys. Now I'm going to reshape the running game. Now my message is set in. It's like it's year two. It's different. He's like a rookie quarterback, except he's a coach. Now it's like in my vision. So I'll call it what it is, guys.

2:33.3

Week one, they're playing the Chiefs.

2:35.1

And like... coach. Now it's like in my vision. So I'll call it what it is guys. Week one, they're playing

2:53.0

the Chiefs. And like, what do you got, coach? I love mush and I love talking about how great

2:58.7

Herbert is, but you got to beat that other head coach with the mustache across the field. I love

3:04.3

the interview. There's a lot to prove for the Chargers, but there's a lot of excitement to him.
