We do begin with the State of the Union address. President Trump touting his accomplishments

and taking aim at his opponents in a combative speech.

Many Democrats boycotting the address, others storming out in protest.

Senior political correspondent Rachel Scott is at the White House with more.

Hey, Janegu. Well, the president Trump said it was going to be a long speech, and it was a record-breaking one hour and 48 minutes.

And the president was clearly looking for some type of reset here ahead of the critical midterm elections.

And it comes as he's facing extremely low

approval ratings, his lowest in his second term, the president trying to paint a rosy picture

of the economy. But it stands in sharp contrast to what many Americans are feeling at home.

You know, most Americans poll show disapprove of the president's handling on the economy,

on inflation. And it also comes

amid that defeat that President Trump suffered by the Supreme Court ruling that most of his

tariffs are unconstitutional. The president was just a few feet away from those justices. He stayed away

from the personal attacks, but he did call the decision unfortunate. As for the Democrats, they chose

Governor Abigail Spanberger to deliver their address, and she tried to paint this sort of split

picture between what Republicans were saying and what Democrats were saying, asking the American

people if they are better off, if they are safer, and if the country is more affordable

under President Trump, Janae. And Rachel, so that's a lot of what we were able to see on TV too, but you were there
