But we are going to begin with the economic fallout from the war with Iran. Restrictions on oil supply have pushed the average price of a gallon of gas past the $4 mark overnight. Elizabeth, I know you've been following this for a while now. We have been watching these gas prices climb. So the national average now above $4 a gallon for the first time in more than three years.

When you look at those prices, gas is now up $1.7 since the start of the war.

Diesel is up $1.70 cents and even bigger increase there.

When you're thinking about what's going on here, we still have a

record-breaking surge in oil prices, and that is the underlying issue here. A handful of states,

gas is already above $4 a gallon. Keep in mind, the all-time high nationwide was $5, so we're not there

yet. But as long as these oil prices are going high, the reason for that is that the straight of Hormuz is still virtually closed down. Plus, you have the fact that a lot of oil facilities in the Middle East have now been damaged there. It could take months or years, guys, for that production to ramp back up. So we could be looking at these higher oil prices for a bit. Wow. Months or years. Now, I know it could take months or years for those actual big oil prices to go down, but for people going to the pump, when can they start to see this? Right, and we want to see the price go down. But when we have oil this elevated, unlikely we see even declines of a little bit at the pump. So Moody's analytics says that the typical household is going to be spending $1,200 extra.
