Apparently these hazardous materials that have been found in several products that are marketed toward black women, When it comes to hair relaxers and lipstick, what do we need to know? So, you know, DeMarco, we know that differences in chemical exposures really contribute to some

of the health disparities that we see in the U.S.

And so that's why it's so important that we're talking about research like this.

So this new study came out.

It looked at 4,000 at home personal care products marketed towards black women.

And the headline finding was, one in 20 of those products were classified as highly hazardous.

This is according to a rating scale from the environmental working group.

Now, looking a little more into it, the hair relaxers, 25% of those products tested contained formaldehyde releasing preservatives, and 78 contained caustic ingredients.

Those are chemicals that can burn your skin. Okay, so pretty serious there.
