It's actually sounding alarm on the growing rate of diabetes in this country.

That's right.

In this report, the United States is ranking highly and not for good reason.

I want to show you some of the details from this new report.

It's showing about, like you said, the increased rate of diabetes. Right now, the United States ranking third in the

world from the number of people diagnosed with diabetes, guys, that's estimated 42 million people.

Even more concerning, 13 million people are not receiving treatment. And that begins complications

that we see in the emergency room every day. It's not just about sugar, it's about increased risk of heart disease, infection, kidney disease,

so on and so forth. And this also has incredible effects on the economic health in terms of health care.

It's estimated that diabetes alone costs more than $400 billion a year within the United States. But I think most importantly, it's understanding what are the signs of diabetes.

I often talk about patients, or talk to patients about this.

Increased thirst, unexplained weight loss, difficulties with nausea, vomiting.

Those are some of the symptoms, but also increased risk of infection,

urinary infection, and so on and so forth.

What should you ask your doctor for?

Check your A1C.

This is that blood test that can help you to understand your risks.

You want to keep that low in a 5% range, and if it's higher, you want to act on it.

That is so important.
