We're going to begin, though, with the major Supreme Court ruling on voting rights,

weakening a key provision of a 60-year-old law from the civil rights era.

The decision could impact the balance of power in Congress in future elections.

Hey, Rianne, and good afternoon too. Yes, it certainly could. This was a major blow to a key

section of the Voting Rights Act, and it could have major implications on the upcoming midterm

election as well as future election. So let's start with this ruling. The High Court ruled

that one of Louisiana's two majority black districts was improperly drawn and relied too heavily

on race.

So now with this ruling, there will be only one majority black districts, even though

black voters in that state make up one-third of Louisiana.

Liberal justices warned this decision means that minority voters in the state will no longer

have an equal opportunity to elect candidates of their choice.
