Trevor, what do we need to know if we haven't done our taxes yet?

Everyone is with Lara. Everyone seems to forget.

It always sneaks up on us and it means that you really have to get cracking.

Eva, if you haven't started your taxes yet, the deadline tomorrow at 1159 p.m. Now, the good news is

that this year it actually could be easier for a lot of people because 25 states have what's called

direct file. That's a free online program that they've recently launched for federal returns.

Only half the states can use it, though. They do also have

IRS free file. That's if you made less than $84,000 in 2024. There are, of course, many tax

prep services, too. They're ready to help at the last minute, though they are likely to charge.

Having said all that, there are some built-in extensions for people who are in disaster areas,

like the areas impacted by the LA wildfires and all of Florida and Georgia, they both have their tax deadlines pushed to May 1st because of hurricanes for the vast majority of people, though, tomorrow at 11.59 p.m. Yeah, that's good to know. Some people can't help it. Yeah, well, and you know, Trevor, if you forgot about it and you can't get it done in time, what do you do?
