I'm Chris Smith, and coming up this week, sweltering temperatures wreak havoc across

Europe and North America.

What needs to be done, though, to bring them down.

We hear from the Cambridge scientists who wants to create the

largest ever DNA and health research program for children and young people and

did aliens crash land or Mars. Strange pictures resembling a crash site have been circulating, but could there be a more mundane explanation? Up first this week southern European country has usually experienced high temperatures

in July and August that's after all the reason they attract so many of us as holidaymakers.

But this year those temperatures have gone far beyond their previous limits and now wildfires are

causing havoc in parts of Greece and Italy.

Experts say the latest searing heat waves would have been virtually impossible without climate change.

The UK's Met Office has also warned that record-breaking temperatures will soon become the norm.
