It's just the ongoing meditating on God's word that changes the way you think over time.

Because if you think about it, these are God's words.

And as you pour them into your mind and your heart over and over and over again,

I mean, it's sort of rewiring the way you think.

I mean, you were learning to think like Jesus, which is our whole goal.

Glenna Marshall is a pastor's wife.

So scripture memorization.

I think most of us as believers know that we should be memorizing scripture.

And we take our kids to these Awana classes,

and we hope that they'll have the book of Ephesians memorized by the time they're six.

Right.

Was that you growing up?

Well, I grew up in a small Baptist church where we had Bible drill,

which was sort of like Awana, except that you taught children a ton of scripture.

You taught them books of the Bible in order, and then you made them compete with other churches. And so you would- So this is like the spelling bee, only it's like the scripture bee. Yes, it's the Bible version. Yes, it's the scripture bee. And so I did that probably first through fourth grade at my church. We went to all these competitions. And I mean, it was really useful.
