In 1986, Eugene, Oregon saw two murders just a couple of weeks apart. Investigators noted that the murders bore some similarities, but they had no luck finding the killer. Two years passed before a third similar murder solidified investigators’ theory that they had a serial killer in their midst. But again, they could not find him, even though a sketch of the man would later prove to be startlingly accurate. It took the powers of forensic genealogy to identify the perpetrator – someone who had yet another homicide under his belt.

1:15.2	It was 1986. 66, 62-year-old Gladys Hensley lived at the Parkview Terrace Senior Living Facility
1:21.6	at 255 High Street near Skinner Butte Park and the Willamette River in Eugene, Oregon.
1:28.7	This was a large facility operated by the Lane County Housing Authority, so the rents for the
1:33.8	150 units were affordable for social seniors who wanted the independence of living on their own,
1:39.6	but the safety and communal feel of a residential facility.
1:44.5	Gladys was personal friends with the facilities's manager, who, on Thursday, June 5th, realized that
1:50.7	the friendly and gregarious tenant hadn't been seen in quite some time.
1:55.1	The manager knocked on the door of Gladys' unit but received no response.
1:59.5	The manager had a key, though, and cautiously opened the door
2:02.5	to Gladys' apartment around 2.40 p.m. The TV and the apartment was on. The lights were on, too,
2:09.2	but other than the sound from the television, it was quiet. The manager was, sadly, trained to deal
2:15.9	with seniors who had befallen accidents and even death,
