Well, some people would say 11 or 12, I think officially it's 13 when you enter the years of parenting a teenager.

And when you cross that threshold, there are certain levels of freedom that they want,

that they expect, that they look around and say, it's mine.

How do you manage all this?

We have hope for you today. I'm John Fuller with Dr.

Danny Werta who heads the focus on the family parenting department and Danny let's get

some specifics here. How did dads and moms struggle?

Well actually let's lead with what is technically

teenagerhood and how do moms and dads struggle in letting go?

Teenager Hood.

That's great.

I love the question because some kids

reach teenagerhood or adolescents

and they're not ready for it.

They're not quite there.

Yeah. There's a lack of maturity and there's some that are

super mature and they're reaching it at 10-11. But really it's entering into a space of learning

how to be an adult. It's that practice time, pre-season.

Ormoans come in. I mean, it is, it becomes real. I remember having a ceremony for my son at 13

and talking about what does, what does it mean to be a teen and it's really

about taking on more and more responsibilities and making more and more decisions

along the way that have greater impact as they continue to grow.
