Summary

In the twelfth chapter of the Gospel of Luke, Christ assures us not to be afraid. Fear is a spiritual state that causes us not to trust in the lordship of God and to play master of our lives. However, with the awareness that God has given all to us, we'll realize that we are basically a gift. Gifts are meant to be given, so confidently give yourself away. Do not fear that you will become nothing by giving yourself away for by doing this the divine life fills you anew.

0:48.5	taken from the 12th chapter of the Gospel of Luke, and it is of fundamental spiritual significance.
0:57.7	It's one of those moments in the Gospels when the heart of the matter is laid bare. The essence
1:05.3	of the spiritual life is there, and therefore it behooves us to reflect upon it with great care.
1:11.0	Here's how the passage begins. Jesus said to His disciples,
1:16.6	Do not be afraid any longer little flock. For your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

1:41.0	problem is fear. We're afraid, and so we cling to ourselves and our prerogatives. We're afraid,
1:52.5	and therefore we lash out at others. We're afraid, and therefore we keep the world at bay. Here we
2:00.0	have now God Himself telling us not to be afraid. The very source of existence, the creator of all
2:11.7	things, the one who can guarantee eternal life is telling us don't be afraid. And then He specifies
2:22.0	why. Your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. If this could sink into our souls,
2:33.6	our lives would be changed, period. Most of us think the Kingdom of God is something we have to
2:42.6	earn through our good works. If I'm sufficiently upright, I might convince God, who's otherwise
