Acts chapter 2. Now when the day of Pentecost had fully come they were all with one accord and in

one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled

the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as a fire

and one sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak

with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance and they were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews,

devout men from every nation under heaven. Why? Because it's Pentecost they were required to be there

and when this sound occurred the multitude came together and were confused because everyone heard

them speak in his own language. Is that interesting statement? Why were they confused if they heard

everyone speaking on their own language? This is why they were confused. They were confused because

they were hearing Galileans speak in the native tongue that only they knew and as a Galilean they

barely knew Galilean. Just like many of us who are Americans we barely speak English. We speak

American. Right? You got to go to England if you want to hear English. We've messed it all up.

And so verse 7 then they all were amazed and marveled saying to one another, look are not all these

who speak Galileans? How is it that we each hear in our own language in which we were born

parthians and meath, elamites and those dwell in the Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontius,

and Asia, Fridja, and Pemphilia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene. Notice how

specific it is. Remarkable. That's the areas of North Africa. Visitors from Rome, both Jews and

proselytes, Cretans and Arabs. We hear them speaking in our own tongues. The wonderful works of God.

That was the great announcement of what was going on. God was on the move. God was poured out his

holy spirit. So Father God we pray that you would move today from this time forward in our lives

like never before. The hour is late. The work before us is great and Father God may we like never

before. Be used by you to glorify your son. We pray in Jesus name and all God's people said,
