Today we're talking about how looking back at our history

helps us understand our present, our future,

and ourselves better.

Our guest for today's episode is my new friend Jasmine Holmes.

Jasmine is a mom, a historian, a grad student, and a writer. She has just a few things

going on. Her newest book is called Crown of Glory, how proclaiming the truth of black dignity has shaped American history.

Now I wanted to have Jasmine on the show because I've spent a lot of time lately looking back at our history as women.

Seeing where we've been and how we got to where things are today,

it's given me so much insight and context into my present to know more about my past.

So when I saw that Jasmine had written a book kind of on the same theme,

I knew I wanted to hear what this is looked like for her. I wanted to hear about the

journey of writing this book and about digging back into history and I wanted to

know what she's learned from it. You guys Jasmine is a brilliant teacher.
