| 0:00.0 | My girlfriend honestly thinks that I cheated on her, all because I said that a female celebrity |
| 0:04.8 | is attractive. And now I feel like I'm losing my mind, because at this point, I seriously |
| 0:09.6 | don't know what to do. Here's what happened. Okay, to start things out, this is not a joke. |
| 0:14.1 | My girlfriend is a massive overthinker, and she has anxiety. Earlier today, my girlfriend |
| 0:18.9 | asked me to name a celebrity that I thought was attractive. Now, I kept telling her no, I can't think of one, but she kept pushing it. And so I just said the first one that came to mind, which in this situation was Sophie Turner. Well, my girlfriend looked her up and saw what she looked like. Then she said that she looked similar to a girl that I knew years ago. For some backstory, this girl |
| 0:37.8 | had it out for me for some reason and lied to my girlfriend that I cheated on her with this lady, |
| 0:42.7 | even though that never happened and there's no proof of it. But I digress. Apparently, |
| 0:47.5 | because they look similar, that proves that I cheated on her. Mind you, this is years apart |
| 0:52.3 | from that incident. And somehow, that was her immediate |
| 0:54.8 | reaction. When I started to tell her that that's absolutely absurd, she then asked me why I was |
| 1:00.1 | getting defensive, and that me being defensive over it further proves it. But it's like, yeah, |
| 1:05.0 | of course I'm getting defensive. I'm getting accused of cheating because a celebrity that I find |
| 1:09.6 | attractive looks similar to that girl. |
| 1:11.6 | Now, she did eventually calm down, but she refuses to see that this was a complete overreaction, |
| 1:16.6 | and told me that she hopes I learned from the conversation we had. |
| 1:19.6 | But seriously, what did I learn? I didn't even do anything. |
| 1:22.6 | All I learned was to not answer a question or bring up anything like that, |
| 1:26.6 | because clearly this was a trap from the very beginning. What should I do? Oh my God, this is so annoying. This is right up there with a girlfriend waking up and being like, oh, I had a dream that you cheated on me, so now I'm pissed off at you. It's like, what are we talking about right now? This is crazy. You're not cheating on anybody just because they had a dream or because you mentioned a celebrity that she wanted to know that you found attractive. There's no connection. It's all separate instances. Like, seriously, this is so annoying. So to the original poster, of course you didn't do anything wrong. Your girlfriend's acting like a complete weirdo. And you do not deserve this kind of treatment. If I was in your shoes, I would say something immediately and be like, wait a second, this is so unfair. Because in my opinion, this is not insecurity. This is her literally setting you up for failure. You literally could have mentioned any celebrity that you thought was attractive. And I bet you she still would have been like, oh wow, well this reminds me of that one lady that said you were cheating. So no, you didn't do anything wrong because this behavior, in my opinion, is absolutely unacceptable. |
