An entitled old jerk hits my car and tries to claim that it's my fault when the cops show up,

despite the fact that he quite literally rammed into me. Here's what happened. So I was driving in

my lane as I always do on the way to work. We then came to construction, which makes the left

lane need to merge into the right lane. Well, this entitled old man comes up flooring it,

trying his best to get in front of me. And as a side

note, this was literally for no reason. There is literally no space in front of me, but tons of

space behind me. It gets to the point that his front bumper is about a foot in front of mine,

but that is it. And then he proceeds to abruptly turn into me. He was moving at such a clip

that I didn't even have time to react. Well, he

crushes into the side of my car, shattering his front bumper, crushing his fender and door, rips his mirror off, and gets bug old donut on the side of his SUV. We pull off the road and I get to ask him, well, was it worth it? Just to try and gain two seconds? Now we're both going to be late. When I said that, he freaks out on me, screaming at me that he was in front of me, which obviously not as he hit me. He then looked to me and said, do your brakes work? And it's like, well, do yours? He then refuses to give me his insurance information. That is, until the cops arrive. We wait about 25 minutes and finally the cops show up. At this point,

he freaks out at her, yelling about how I'm a danger on the road and all this other garbage.

And this is because apparently I didn't make way for him. The cop then tries to diffuse the situation

and eventually he complies. Well, it turns out his insurance is eight months expired. And she even

gives him a fix-a-it ticket, where he has to

bring proof of valid insurance to court or to the station, or something like that, or else he's

going to get a ticket. Now, here's the best part about all of this. As stated, his 2012 GMC terrain is

pretty messed up, and I thought that my 2002 Hyundai Santa Cruz was also messed up. I had marks all down the side of both

doors, as well as the fender and the water panel, and I sent the pictures of it to my insurance

to get the claim started. Now, they of course deemed it was not my fault, as he merged into me

and I had the right away. So they cut me a check for $2,000 for the damages. Well, lo and behold,

I decided to wash it at least, just so it will look less bad until I can get it in the shop. I just used some dawn soap and a microfiber cloth, as well as some elbow grease. And guess what? The car is perfectly fine. No panel warps, no nothing. I guess the GMC terrains are made out of Silly Putty, and he just deposited parts of his trucks on top of my wax.

But still, I had the shop check it out, and they found a couple of scratches on the plastic, which were barely noticeable. And there was nothing for them to actually do unless I cared about a couple of barely noticeable scratches. So you know what? I just buffed it out. I rewaxed it since I ended up stripping the wax off my doors cleaning them. And I straight up pocketed the $2,000 I got from insurance. So what's the moral of this story? Don't be a jerk for two seconds and make sure that your stupid insurance is actually up to date. Wow, I cannot stand people who act like this. Seriously, this guy hits your car and then tries to pretend like you're the one at fault? It's like, buddy, what are you talking about? This absolutely is your fault. So good for you for keeping your cool and basically getting this guy in trouble. Because what he tried to do when the cops showed up, in my opinion, is so toxic. And you do not deserve that in the slightest. If you like Am I the Jerk, you're probably going to love Am I the Genius.
