Summary

My guest today is Gino D’Acampo

Born into a large family in Napoli in the South of Italy – he came to London at the age of 19 back in 1995.

You may know him from his regular appearances on This Morning where he cooks up a storm, or perhaps from his early days on Ready Steady Cook. He’s a TV regular, a best selling author and a successful restaurauteur. He has written over 16 cookbooks, holds six Guiness world records (one of them is for walking on custard) and he was crowned King of the Jungle in the 9th series of I’m a Celebrity Get me out of here.

Gino is often described as the UK’s favourite Italian chef.

He has over 40 restaurants in the UK and he’s currently got 3 television series on our screens at the moment alone. He’s just published a new book Gino’s Italian Adriatic Escape.

I thought I knew Gino from watching him cook on TV but I learnt so much about him in this episode and finding out about how he got to where he is today was so much fun, not least discovering that he was George Michael's private chef! Which is very cool.

Oh and pasta for breakfast is going to be a thing! You heard it here first...The Margie - cannot even tell you how my dreams would come true to have a pasta dish named after me!

You can find a copy of Gino’s new book here: (https://amzn.to/2QX1PwW)

If you’re listening and you haven’t yet left a review – now’s your chance! It really is quick to do.

I know people bang on about it a lot but 5* ratings and subscribing to the podcast really does boost it in the rankings and it really does help me out – so thank you!

Thank you so much for listening Don’t forget to go to the website (https://www.desertislanddishes.co) for the full list of episodes plus the recipes I’ve created inspired by each episode. Oh and its brand new – so do head over and have a look because it’s taken me an age!

Come and say on Instagram @margienomura and other than that, Thanks so much for listening!

Hi, I'm Margie and welcome to the Desert Island Dishes podcast. This is the podcast where every week I ask my guest to choose their seven desert island dishes. These range from finding out about the dish that most reminds them of their childhood, the best dish they've ever eaten, and of course, the last dish they would
