Carley Fortune is a journalist turned romance author, so of course as a huge fan of Gilmore girls, she wanted to weigh in on what she thinks of Rory Gilmore as a journalist. Plus she talks about that career transition, her hot takes on Gilmore girls, and how she discovered Alice as the perfect love interest for the much beloved favorite brother from her first novel, Every Summer After.

0:22.2	here because you enjoy books, which is so fantastic because I do too, and I imagine you like
0:27.3	really good books. Well, today's guest wrote one of my favorite books of the year. I'm not
0:32.5	exaggerating. This book sideswiped me. I did not realize I was going to love it as much as I did. And that book is
0:39.7	One Golden Summer by Carly Fortune, which is May's pick for Reading is Sexy, our Gilmore-inspired
0:45.0	Romance Book Club. It just came out on Tuesday on May 6th, and I'm so excited to read it with the
0:50.7	club. I've never been more excited to reread a book before with the book club.
0:59.4	So let me tell you a bit about it. On the back cover, it reads, good things happen at the lake.
1:05.4	That's what Alice's grandmother says, and it's true. Alice spent just one summer there at a college with Nan when she was 17.
1:11.1	It's where she took that photo, the one of the three grinning teenagers in a yellow speedboat, the image that changed her life. Now Alice lives behind a lens. As a photographer, she's most comfortable on the sidelines
